Document setup for the Canon CLC 5000 / DOCSTREAM RIP
- Supported Applications: Adobe In-Design, Illustrator, PageMaker, and Photoshop;
Macromedia FreeHand: QuarkXPress; Microsoft Publisher. Additionally, all PDF, TIFF and EPS files can be imaged to this device.
Print drivers are available for generating files printed to disk from applications not
supported above.
- Resolution: Device resolution is 800 dpi, but little or no difference is visible
between 400 and 800 dpi for photographs, so we recommend 400 dpi for the sake of
efficiency. Pixels become visible at or below 225 dpi. Lineart should be 800 dpi or higher.
- Color: The Canon is a CMYK device. For best results, we recommend that you change
any spot or RGB colors, duotones, and RGB images to process CMYK before submitting your
files; the results will be more pleasing and consistent. The Canon will print from RGB and
spot source files, however the color may vary from your expectations, as each device will
convert RGB to CMYK differently.
- "Spot-On" Color: As a result of being within the CMYK color gamut, many colors have
difficulty being replicated. The "Spot-On" technique allows a designer to enter our facility with
a pre-printed piece, product or color swatch that we can measure using a spectralphotometer. After
the color values are measured, a swatch is printed, measured, printed, and measured again to dial
in the color. This color is then given a unique name (i.e. 7-Up Green) which when called out in
In-Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Pagemaker, Quark or Freehand you'll get a consistent color
match regardless of how the color was spec'd (it's all in the name).
- Image Area: In-house vailable paper sizes are letter (8.5 x 11 inches), tabloid (11 x 17
inches), and full-bleed tabloid (12 x 18 inches). On any size, the Canon has a
non-imageable border of 5 millimeters (0.2 inches) all around.
- Media: Our standard media for the Canon is a specially coated bright white paper
designed for color laser copiers. Heavier cover stock is also available. We can image on
12" x 18" up to 90 lb. index and on smaller sizes, including client-supplied paper, up to 145 lb.
index. Client supplied papers can be as small as 5.5" x 8.5".
