Grayphics Digital Imaging - What we support

Any designer or other person seeking prepress service is presented with a bewildering array of options, from what illustration or layout program to use, to what kind of media the files are submitted on. We know how difficult it can be to find something that is supported everywhere you need it to be–indeed, we deal with it ourselves. To ease the frustration this difficulty can cause, we actively try to support as many different file and media formats as possible. And even if your particular file type or device is not explicitly supported, we will do what we can to assist; there always are possibilities.

Current Supported Release Versions:

* For general use, we recommend only TIFF and EPS. We can open/convert other formats, but not directly image them. Additional formats may be supported, please ask for details.

Some applications may not be appropriate for imaging to high-end devices

Please note that there are many other applications that we can image from. If you are in doubt, please feel free to ask. In any case, most applications that we do not directly support can save files in a format that we do support, commonly EPS or PDF.

Our most commonly used printer description (PPD) files are available to you for output from applications not listed above, and to allow for more consistency imaging from Windows systems. Ask for details.

Supported media formats:

A service bureau is perhaps the most common place to find various removable media listed above. We use gigabytes worth of this media every day, and over time, certain manufacturers and products have distinguished themselves. For those looking into the purchase of a removable media system, we recommend Iomega products. Starting with the Bernoulli, and continuing with the Zip and the Jaz, Iomega has distinguished itself with products of outstanding reliability. Rugged, solid drives paired with the most amazingly durable cartridges make for our favourite media to deal with. We cannot recommend them enough.
